Funny Confession #9: Broadening Horizons.

I have suffered an injury to my lower back.  Nothing serious– not a season-ending injury– but it did stop me in my tracks for a day and had me giddy for anti-inflammatories like a kid in a candy store.

Searching for daily glory in not one, but 3 sports, puts us at 3 x the risk of injury.  We really do have to be careful.

However, I actually incurred this injury as I attempted to broaden my horizons — to try something new.  I wanted to add another trick to my bag and expand my repertoire of skills and activities.  Become more of a well-rounded woman, of sorts.

Sometimes it’s risky when you take on a new challenge, and I have come to accept that great reward doesn’t come without great risk  . . . or something like that.

I should’ve known better than to try vacuuming.

  1. Once again thanking my all hardwood floor (tile in the kitchen) condo. Swiffer hasn’t let me down yet!

I knew that all those years of making excuses for not getting your chores done would return to bite you (in the back). As in training for your sport………a more frequent regimen of vacuuming may have averted this latest injury, but what do I know, I’m only the mom.

  3. Been there, got the shirt. Last time it happened I vowed tokeep doing yoga and core and never stop ever again. Then the pain went away.

Couple of years ago I rowed competetivly. Trained all year. Had a great season. Day after the regatta, I threw out my back picking up a bag of groceries. Go Figure!

  4. Your mom’s comment is priceless. Maybe they make a super light carbon fiber vacuum?

  5. Just what I need…another reason to not clean my house! Like lack of time while training wasn’t a good enough excuse…lol!

Hope the back is better soon!
