QuickTrip.

quick-trip-logogif. . . not the gas station with the funny commercials.  This is the version where you cover 70.3 miles of racing and about 1400 miles of travel over 48 hours.

Sounds ridiculous?  I agree.  Given the new job situation and the lack of vacation time, however, this is definitely a QuickTrip version of racing.

I did the math, and it ain’t pretty:

48 hours from take off to landing.   When you take out the hours I will be sleeping and you estimate my finish time, I will be spending 15% of my waking hours racing.

More specifically, I will be spending 15% of my waking hours at aerobic threshold:  either wondering where the the hell everyone went on the swim, having a blast on the bike, or getting religious on the run.

Like I said– ridiculous.  However, as much as I LOVE this sport and I love racing, I’ve learned that it’s not really a vacation.  (The words aerobic threshold and vacation don’t really go well together.)  So it’s going to be a quick 48hr trip and hopefully an awesome weekend of racing.  And I will conveniently be home and done with air travel before DOMS sets in. Another benefit of the QuickTrip.

Will do my best and hope for personal progress and a solid race.  Thanks for checking in!

I’ve never understood how people can put vacation and race in the same sentence. Race weeks are not vacations for me… unless I’m there as a spectathlete! :D

    Have a GREAT race!!!!
