Is there anything better than a good surprise? It was almost impossible to keep my mouth shut all last week, but we managed to surprise Momma Naj on Friday night with what was one of the best Mother’s Day gifts ever (besides having her favorite middle daughter — me — living so closeby) : my older sister Melissa flew into town from Arizona for the weekend.
When she and Alex walked into the restaurant, she saw my sister, and this face says it all.

Then she looked at me, snapping away with the camera, and realized how Alex and I had been in cahoots all week.
Maybe at this point she also came to the realization that I had asked for her help in cleaning my condo for a reason. (What a way to kick off Mother’s Day weekend, huh? Daughters like me don’t come around often. hahaha..)

Happy Happy Happy!

For the record, Missi and I are the same height. I am not that puny! She strutted off the plane in 2″ heels. A long time ago she told me, “You never know if you’ll be seated next to Brad Pitt on a flight. Be prepared.” Words of wisdom from my older sister . . . The only problem these days is that he may also have that annoyingly gorgeous Angelina Jolie on the other side of him.

So yeah, I was bummed to not be racing Gulf Coast, but I had a most awesome weekend with my sister. It was long overdue and I have to say that we managed to hit our own “PRs” in the sister relationship department– something I wasn’t expecting but am just so happy about. There’s always another race. This was way better.
Speaking of, there’s one this weekend. Memphis! And I managed to convince my “Boy-BFF” MikeG to come with me and race. So it’ll be a entertaining weekend at the very least. Pics from the road, Graceland, and perhaps a swing through Nashvegas on the way home are all to come.
Oh yeah, and a little hurt session on Sunday morning. Can’t wait!

To say that I was surprised doesn’t do it justice!! That was and will remain the dearest gift i have ever received. Alex and Amy had no idea that this gesture would serve to unite and bond our family. Even though my youngest daughter could not make it (in L.A.) she heard and felt all the good vibrations we experienced right here in Hotlanta. This memory will last a lifetime. Thank you dear family.
I don’t know what i love more…your post or Naj’s sweet comments. Warm fuzzies in Portland. Thanks for sharing your beautiful life. xo
Holy cow! That is the best! Nothing beats a good sister/family weekend! And that picture of your mom speaks volumes!
Ok. The water was ROUGH and it was HOT. But Gulf Coast all around was a fun race. Hopefully it will cool down for Florida 70.3 this weeknd – but I doubt it.
Snoop dog rocked. (I’m not going to rub it in or anything) but some of Bay County’s finest where out in full force.
Good luck this weekend!!
