I realize how lucky I am. In a world of coaching via email, I really hit the jackpot. I see my coach at least once a week, but usually more. In the winter, 2-3 times a week. I love it; now I’m not so sure he’s quite as thrilled.
I called him this afternoon to update him on my week and mentioned something about my trainer workout for tonight. He told me to meet him after work instead to ride outdoors.
I have recently inducted myself into the wonderful world of watching movies while on the trainer. Where the hell have I been this whole time?! Now I love it! I’m still diligent with the workout, but just passing the time much more enjoyably. (By the way, if you haven’t seen Baby Mama, get on it. It’s HILARIOUS.) However, riding with Matt tonight was awesome. Movie night will happen another day. It’s fun to mix it up, and I am so much more motivated when I’ve got someone with me.
Matt puts out a great newsletter every month. You can sign up at The Sport Factory Website if you want to get it.
One article I really liked was in this month’s newsletter: The Blessing and Curse of Training Technology. Take a look if you’re interested. I often hear people talking about training without any devices and how liberating it is. I guess if you feel burdened by something, it’s liberating to dump it. I think getting all the devices to work and get everything uploaded is what is so stressful for a lot of us. Or, if you do remember to finally pack all the damn devices, you realize that one of them isn’t charged. Frustrating. But he makes some good points. If you read anything, check out the last paragraph in his article. I thought it made a lot of sense. Matt’s one of only about a dozen coaches in the country who are certified to coach with power, and is a firm believer in using the tools available to coach us better.
