We thought it’d be a good idea to end the year with at least some competitive event beyond pumpkin carving** and racing my dog to the mailbox everyday. The GA State Time Trial Championship seemed feasible. What’s wrong with 40k of biking, especially when you don’t have to run afterwards? I was all for it.
THE GOOD: I won the Women’s Open event, and scored the State Champ Jersey. Sweeeeet.
Somewhere, in about 1.5 font, it says State Champion on that jersey. At least that’s what I’m told.
Sport Factory Coach, teammate, and good friend Gerry Halphen medaled in the Masters category. We would’ve hung the medals around our neck but feared doing so would strain a muscle due to their extreme size and weight, as the photo shows.
THE BAD: Well, not so bad, but the course was cut short by a few miles. (I wasn’t exactly complaining at the time.) As much as I’d love to claim the 57:53 as my 40k TT time, that wasn’t a legit 40k by any stretch, especially the hilly stretch we rode! But why let the details get in the way of a good story, right?
THE UGLY: Other than these pictures?
Just kidding.
As far as rehab-progress goes, I’m now able to run (jog?) a very leisurely (embarassing?) pace for about 35-40 minutes now without pain. I promised Bianca that I’m going to run with her in Peru next month. That’s my goal at this point. I may have to force her to run with her backpack in order to level the playing field, but one way or another we’ll do it!
** Regarding the pumpkin carving championship . . . don’t think I didn’t pull out my A-Game. Come on– the one on the left TOTALLY won, right??

Congratulations on the win! It looks like winter there or something. . .
You better wear that jersey!
Your pumpkin looks meaner. Is that the inner competitive Amy coming out? If I were any good at photoshop, I’d paste that jack o lantern on a picture of you biking where your head would go. That would be funny.
Congratulations, Amy! I think little Shaina takes after her Mom…she is a speedy little girl !! ;
Congrats, superstar! Nice new jersey. And eensy weensy medal.
And your pumpkin totally wins.
