Girls in white dresses and blue satin sashes, Snow-flakes that stay on my nose and eye-lashes, Silver white winters that melt into spring, These are a few of my favorite things. When the dog bites, When the bee stings, When I’m feeling sad . . . I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don’t feel, so bad.
I tried to add the audio to this song from The Sound of Music (all time favorite childhood movie!) but I’m not techie-smart enough to figure it out. That, and you’d probably never read my blog again if I did.
So here is is . . . my preliminary list of PRODUCTS THAT SHOULD SPONSOR ME . . . but don’t. I love these things. You might, too. Check ‘em out!
To make this more fun, I’m throwing down the gauntlet with a little game of tag. All you bloggers out there, YOU’RE IT. That means you: P.Kindzia, J.Reger, E.Fedofsky, A.Long (when the painkillers wear off), R.Ross, B.Wee, A.Parr, M.Eggers, J.Harrison, D.Rist, A.Gellatly, and anyone else who has read this far and isn’t rolling their eyes yet. What do you love love love? The only stipulation: no sponsored products! Gimme the goods on the stuff you throw down the benjamins for.
Here’s what I would lay down in traffic for:
Peanut Wonder: Anyone who doesn’t worship peanut butter is just odd. There’s something about the 14g of fat that bugs me, though, especially since I always want more than those 2 little spoonfuls. I feel like I discovered the 8th Wonder of the World here. This stuff is amazing. TWO GRAMS OF FAT. It’s made from de-fatted peanuts or something like that. Whatever. It’s the next best thing to Honey Roasted Jiff. At $6/jar, it ain’t cheap, but it’s well worth it if you ask me. Get on it.
Immodium: Race day essential for the GI-challenged like myself. I pop 2 before the swim and another 2 on the bike, just for (shits and) giggles. I am in no way encouraging this form of self-medication on anyone– proceed at your own risk.
Quinoa: Highest protein grain out there. Grown in the Andes, super nutritious, and pretty damn good. I mix it with everything or just use it like rice. My mom and I use it instead of bulgur wheat to make a higher-protein tabouli.
Textured Vegetable Protein: I don’t eat a lot of red meat, and this is another way to sneak protein into the diet. It’s flavorless so you can add whatever seasonings you want. My favorite is to mix it with the quinoa, add a can of chili beans, some chili powder and other spices, and voila… fat-free veggie chili. VERY good.
CVS Sunscreen with Zinc Oxide: I love this stuff! The zinc look is soooo 80’s– I feel like Pam Anderson on Baywatch. Well, with the exception of a few other minor (or major?) details. A girl can dream, right? Seriously though, this stuff stays put, doesn’t cause breakouts, and doesn’t drip into your eyes.
Steel Cut Oats: Sorry, Old Quaker Man, but this stuff kicks your ass. It’s nutty, grainy, and oh so yummy. I add a little skim milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and splenda and I’m good to go. Plus the can is cool looking. Oh, and I guess they’re healthier, too, but that’s not my reason for eating ‘em. It’s just good!
Limewire.com: No spyware. If I end up in jail, please bail my ass out.
Salsa: One of the most flavorful, fat-free condiments you can get! I put it on everything, including but not limited to egg whites, baked potatoes (try it), sandwiches, and salads. If you’re in a restaurant and they don’t offer any light salad dressings, this is an awesome fat-free option. Muy bueno!
No-Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix: RUN, do not walk, to the nearest grocery store and buy this. This product is wicked good. Non-fat brownies! You just add yogurt and bake (or nuke). Yeah, there’s still that little sugar issue, but a girl’s gotta live a little, right? Damn good. Try it.
My Blackberry Pearl: So that when I wake up and find my insanely adorable doggy, Shaina, looking deliciously cute, I can snap a picture and send it to everyone who couldn’t care less (without even getting out of bed). Of course, I can’t go all day w/o checking my email, either, which is also why I love it.
OK, you’re turn!

This is a great idea! I’m in! I’ll let you know when I’ve got my list of non-sponsors up!
FUN! I’ll play too after I stalk Rachel and Katherine this weekend! Seriously, you should try a few of those companies, they could hook you up! You can at least model for them! I am trying to convince my coach to let me go to Cancun 70.3 just so you can scream my name when I finish, “Bree you are a half ironwoman!”. Ha ha… I am still stoked you got that job!
Ok, I am going to get the names of the things I really need/like and be back…this is fun!
1) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – I don’t count calories or fat grams but whoever invented these little wonders was a genius!
2) Starbuck’s – Nothing like an xlarge cup of coffee on race morning to get the body (and the bladder) going!
3) Del Monte Bananas – my local grocery sells Del Monte bananas and I’ll be swinging from the trees soon because I eat 3 a day!
I LOVE peanut wonder!!! and no pudge brownies (good individual servings). i’ll work on my list…. for now it’s vicoden (and i’d love for them to sponsor me
Ok!
1.) Nuun – NEED these and I am sponsored by Motor Tabs but the MT have calories, so I actually race on them, but LOVE the Nuun….I drink several a day b/c I am NOT a plain water drinker.
2.) Nivea Lip balm w/ SPF 30. My lips are always chapped and I am obsessed with lip balms, but this is my fav right now.
3.) Smucker’s Natural PB w/ honey. Enough said. LOVE IT….
4.) Yoplait YO Plus Vanilla Yogurt – everyday. LOVE it.
5.) Steel cut oatmeal (like yours) OR normal oatmeal is fine. EVERYDAY- and I race on it – with currants and cinnamon and sometimes a little PB!
6.) Sunglasses – sorry they are my white Rudy’s and I am sponsored, but I can NOT live w/o them ever.
7.)Uglies bathing suits – love Splish ones too – but anything that makes a statement and a little loud and preferably PINK.
8.) My planners – yes, I am anal-retentive planner and NO blackberry for me, just my HAND WRITTEN PLANNER that I keep track of work, personal, travel, Jerome + kids in it. Ridiculous really.
9.) Champion Sports bras – don’t know why – they are cheap, but I love them.
10.) Polycose – this is my drink of choice for racing + training. We ship it in from Canada – and I LOVE IT. And, we are not sponsored by them.
11.) Adidas running shoes – NEVER have changed the shoes I train in – they are Supernova cushions and I have never been injured (knock wood) because I NEVER change what works. Used to be sponsored by Adidas, but picked up ZOOT now and train in Adidas but race in ZOOT for Triathlons.
Wish I could talk about my wetsuits, bikes, etc…but that is not fair, per the rules. Ok, I am rule follower.
Ok, shall I go on? Pleeease. NO!!! This is plenty!!! thanks for letting me play, Amy.
Jen
You lost me at “The Sound of Music”. Now that song is stuck in my head… and I officially hate you… but in a good way.
Breathe….
Amazing — Katie never knew you had a blog!! She told me “mom — it’s the funniest thing I ever read.” So here I am checking in. Today I realized why she likes you so much — who else loves Immodium as much as she does??!! The two of you just run right over the finish line (hand cupped to mouth to catch whatever is coming up) and straight into the port-o-potty! Bowel buddies forever! Whitney
I love and use all the products you love and use, however, why have you kept the P.B. a secret? Where can I “get me some”?
As a swimmer, I need:
1)Willy’s Mexican – at least 3 times a week
2)reeses cups
3)lipton sweet tea
4)speedo fins & paddles
5)swedish goggles
6)Ibuprofen – for after training
7)Yellowtail cabernet
OK, maybe I’m not as serious as ya’ll are – I only do one sport!
