Two Peas in a Pod!

I found my match! :)   Through my feeble attempt at online-matchmaking (the pool running variety), I got a few pool running suggestions, some encouraging emails, but no real “commitment” from anyone willing to take the relationship to the next level.  Putting yourself out there ain’t easy, people.  Everyone’s looking for a quickie (Master’s swim session of course), but are you in it for the long haul?

Much to my delight, when I arrived at the pool this week, I saw my friend Angela.   I met Angela at The Vinings Club, where we are both instructors (she teaches water aerobics, I teach spinning).  She is a ray of sunshine and a very motivating, encouraging friend. She is also a bad-ass triathlete and Sport Factory athlete.    There’s nothing astoundingly impressive about my generation competing in triathlons.  Angela is a 67-year old grandmother, though, and she has more spunk, energy, and dedication in her big toe than most people I know.  We share race reports with each other, and hers are always more entertaining and thought-provoking than anything I could muster. For example, in her last race report, she told me “My transition times were a little slower than last year  at this race (always comparing the numbers!), but I saw my grandson in transition and just HAD to stop and give him a hug!”

Does it get any better than that?    (Just for the record, Mom, I love you, but I’m not slowing down to hug you any time soon.)

Angela was such a trooper. She strapped on that weight belt and started running with me.  Before I knew it, the session was over.  Thanks Angela, and keep up the great work!
