Single White Female…

SWF In Search Of POOL RUNNING PARTNER!

Me:  5′7″, athletic build, brown curly hair and green eyes.  Desperately seeking POOL RUNNING BUDDY.

You:  Enjoy long walks in the pool (with a weight belt), long conversations over a couple packets of PowerGel, and have a knack for turning mind-numbing boredom into a fun activity.

Additional Criteria:  Male or Female: I don’t care.  Best 10k time:  irrelevant.  Income: insignificant.  Got kids?  Bring ‘em.  They can race us.   I am an equal opportunity training partner when it comes to pool running. Height, weight, nationality, and bike brand are non-issues.

I will promise to BRING IT, and you will have more fun than you thought possible with a weight belt strapped tightly on your body.  I can chat you up and will also listen to all the stories you can muster in 40 minutes at Zone 3.

I even did some research for our new relationship.  Apparently there are lots of fun things we can do together to make this a more enjoyable outing:  Article on Pool Running.

This hip flexor thing is quite stubborn.  I’m not sure where I’m headed, but I know one place I’m going is straight to the pool for more “running.”   I DNF’d my “test run” today– still feeling pain.   Not good.  Continued pool running is on the agenda.  And I would rather stick a fork in my eye than continue doing it alone. It is so boring!  Someone join me!  I need a buddy… I promise it’s a good workout (bet ya never thought you could sweat in a pool, right?  Yeah, I didn’t either…), and nobody gets dropped in a 25yard pool.

As Mongoose loves to say, “Who wants it?”

    Hey Amy,
I stumbled upon your blog – don’t even remember how at this point !!
Anyway, I feel your pain – I had to pool run for 3 months a few years back when I broke my foot !!!
A few things that got me through the BOREDOM!!!!!
Music!!! – this was before waterproof I-pods so I would chose the closest lane to the side and out my radio there :) )
Bricks – I would run 10 mins, swim 500, run 10 mins, swim 500 etc….until I had swum 2000 and run 40 mins. This was a GREAT workout!!!
    Hope that helps :) )
    Stay positive

  3. Pool running was my best sport during pregnancy… let’s race! You are on… if it were an Olympic event I would win the gold!

Hope you get back to the road soon… till then put on a hot little bikini and work it at the local pool!
