I know– it’s only August. But I’m busy planning my off-season already.
It looks something like this:
Incredible, huh? That’s MACHU PICCHU, and instead of gorging on turkey, dressing, and pumpkin pie over Thanksgiving, my good buddy (and aforementioned Kiwi) Bianca Simpson, and I are heading to Peru, where we’ll be hiking the ancient Inca Trail. I am so excited!!!
I’ve always wanted to hike the Inca Trail. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, click on the link above for Machu Picchu and educate yourself! This place is one of the 7 wonders of the world. While living in Ecuador, some of my fellow Peace Corps Volunteer friends planned a trip to Peru. For some (stupid) reason, I flew home to charming Akron, OH, and chose to spend my vacation days in the Rubber Capital of the World instead. Mom/Dad- Just kidding… of course it was good to see you.
But enough of waiting for the “perfect time” to go back. It’s time. I love South America with a passion and can’t wait for all the craziness to ensue, surely as soon as we step off the plane.
I have never really wanted a lot of “things.” I want experiences. (OK, I wouldn’t mind if someone handed me a new road bike, though…) This will certainly not be a glamorous, luxurious vacation, but I don’t care. I never want to look back and wonder… you know? The toughest adventures are the best ones. Or at least they make for the best stories!
